   Short battery life

   My Songbird hearing aid worked great & was worth the 14.95 intro price at their website, but the battery quit after about 3 weeks of intermittent usage. From what I have been able to gather via the internet, the battery life is highly variable from one unit to the next. I do think this is a great way to experiment with wearing a hearing aid before making a larger investment, but it does not seem to have the desired economy or adequate reliability.

   I purchased one of these last year from Active Forever on Amazon. They no longer seem to carry this product due to reviews like this one. This is a comfortable, discreet and very clever device. It works very well as an amplifier for mild to moderate loss, as advertised. My unit lasted only 2 months. With my moderate usage, I expected it to last at least twice as long. This could be a good device to determine if a hearing aid would help you but I question whether it’s worth $40 per month. I have since switched to some “non-disposable” hearing aids. If Songbird offered 1/2 price “refills”, special replacement batteries, or a product that truly lasted 4-6 months, I would have continued using them. In short, all claims seem true except battery life.
